New York Knicks vs. Washington Wizards
NBA: Tuesday, March 10, Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C., 6:00 PM ET
The New York Knicks spent the previous five games at home and won three of them, including the most recent one over the 6-point underdogs Detroit Pistons. The Knicks improved to a 20-44 record and are in the 12th place in the Eastern Conference.
The Washington Wizards returned home from a four-game road trip on which they suffered three defeats and beat the 5-point underdogs Atlanta Hawks. However, after the latest loss to the 4-point favorites Miami Heat, the Wizards dropped to a 23-40 record and are in the 9th place in the East.
These conference rivals met three times this season, and the Wizards are currently leading the series 2-1, covering the spread in both wins.

The Knicks shut down the Pistons late to secure a win

New York produced one of the best defensive displays of the season in a 96-84 home victory over the Detroit Pistons. The Knicks limited the visitors to just 36.3% from the field and kept them to miserable 13 points in the final 12 minutes. The hosts dominated the boards (51-35), and even though they made only six triples opposite Detroit’s 11, the Knicks deservedly booked a win. Julius Randle led the Knicks with a double-double of 22 points and game-high 12 rebounds, along with game-high three steals. Elfrid Payton added 16 points, game-high six assists, and five boards, Mitchell Robinson posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, along with game-high three blocks, while RJ Barrett scored 12 points. Dennis Smith Jr. (concussion) is questionable to face the Wizards on Tuesday.

“I felt like I was getting hit like a running back,” Randle said. “We got the win nonetheless.”
This season, the Knicks have the 29th offense in the NBA that averages 105.2 points per game, and they are facing the Wizards’ worst defense that allows 119.7 points per contest. The Knicks are the 7th in rebounds with 46.7 and 28th in assists with 21.8 per game.

The Wizards scored season-low 89 points in a loss to Miami

Washington displayed one of the weakest offensive performances of the campaign in a 100-89 home loss to the Miami Heat. The Wizards shot only 33.3% from the floor and scored 35 points in the second half. The hosts did hit 19 triples opposite Miami’s 13, but the visitors won the rebounding battle (46-29) and had eight blocks opposite Washington’s two. Shabazz Napier led the Wizards with 27 points, game-high seven assists, and game-high four steals. Davis Bertans scored 25 points, while Bradley Beal chipped in with 23 points, six dimes, and two blocks. John Wall (Achilles) and Ish Smith (hamstring) are out indefinitely, while Jerome Robinson (right Achilles) is questionable to face the Knicks on Tuesday.

“We had the game in a pretty good spot and then we kind of relaxed,” Wizards coach Scott Brooks said. “When you relax, teams get hot, make a three, make a couple of threes and then they got hot. But I thought we made some big plays down the stretch.”
This season, the Wizards have the 6th offense in the NBA that averages 115.5 points per game, and they are facing the Knicks’ 19th defense that allows 111.8 points per contest. The Wizards are the 30h in rebounds with 41.8 and 12th in assists with 25.4 per game.
