The Canucks were shut out by the Jets in their last game while beating them in the first matchup earlier this season.

The Jets have won two of their last three games and got their first shutout win of the season in their last game facing the Canucks. While the team is in third place in the North Division they are still nine points back of the Toronto Maple Leafs. While Winnipeg has had a solid attack on the season averaging 3.35 goals per game they have only scored four goals in their last two games after putting up six goals in a win.

The Canucks only have two wins in their last 10 games and are tied with the Calgary Flames in second to last place in the North. They have had issues on both sides of the ice on the season and the last game was just their second shutout loss.

The Canucks have lost their last five games on home ice against the Jets.

Brossoit Thwarts Canucks

Laurent Brossoit (3-1-0 2.24 GAA) got his second career shutout in the Jets’ last game in the 2-0 win where he turned away all 29 shots he faced. Mark Scheifele scored an unassisted goal in the first period and Mason Appleton scored an empty net goal late in the third period to put the icing on the cake.

#1 G Connor Hellebuyck (7-5-1 2.61 GAA) will likely get the start in this game and after giving up only three goals in two starts he has given up eight of them in his last two starts.

Nikolaj Ehlers is tied for third in the NHL with 10 goals and he has two goals and two assists in his last five games. Scheifele leads Winnipeg with 23 points (9 goals 14 assists) and he has lit the lamp in four straight games and in his last five games has four assists. The Jets have not won two in a row in nearly a month and they have lost their last five games following a win.

Offense Shines, Offense Dims

The Canucks had scored five goals in a 5-1 win over the Calgary Flames before getting shut out 2-0 at the hands of the Jets in the last game. They were outshot 31-29 in the last game and were 0-2 on the power play. Thatcher Demko (4-7-1 3.31 GAA) took the loss despite stopping 29 of 30 shots. He has been up and down as of late giving up one goal in the last game, four in the previous one, and one in the game before that. Braden Holtby (4-5-0 3.44 GAA) may get the nod in this game and while only giving up one goal in his last start he had given up 14 goals in his previous three starts.

Brock Boeser ranks second in the NHL with 12 goals, leads the Canucks with 21 points, and while going scoreless in the last game he has three goals and three assists in his last five games. Quinn Hughes has 20 points (2 goals 18 assists) and has a goal and two assists in in his last four games.

With the loss to the Jets in the last game the Canucks fell to .500 (5-5) at home this season.
