Middle Tennessee State opened its regular season with an impressive 50-15 victory over Monmouth but returned to reality this past weekend after being beaten 35-14 by the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Blue Raiders gained 349 yards against a tough Virginia Tech defense but gave up 383 yards to the Hokies offense and never threatened throughout the game. Middle Tennessee quarterback Bailey Hockman was able to pass for only 207 yards with a touchdown and interception. MTSU does not have any players on its injury report.
The UTSA Roadrunners have started the season with two consecutive victories. UTSA opened with a 37-30 upset victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini and followed that with a 54-0 rout of the Lamar Cardinals. Sincere McCormick had a pair of touchdown rushes for UTSA and quarterback Josh Adkins passed for two touchdowns in the win at home over Lamar. It was not just about offense as the UTSA defense held Lamar to only 122 yards of total offense and forced two Cardinals turnovers. UTSA does not have any players listed on its injury report.
