WORLD CUP 2018GAME PREVIEWS

The tilt between Uruguay and Portugal will be played at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi on June 30th. The Sky Blues collected maximum points in the group stage and secured their place in the knockout phase after two games, unlike Portugal who almost suffered elimination in the last game against Iran.

Uruguay vs. Portugal

Three-Way: 1: Uruguay +200; X: +187 Draw; 2: Portugal +187
Spread 0: Uruguay +100; Portugal -109
Total 2.5 goals: Over +187; Under -250
URUGUAY
The Sky Blues didn’t have the toughest group at the World Cup, but they did what was expected from them, and that was to progress to the Round of 16. They struggled in the opening two games but destroyed the hosts Russia in the latest one, and it seems that Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani are keeping their strength for the knockout stage. The defense is rock-solid as Uruguay didn’t concede a goal yet, so it’s going to be interesting to see how Cristiano Ronaldo will cope with Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez. Uruguay’s chances to win the World Cup are now +2200, while the Sky Blues are +350 to reach the semi-finals.
PORTUGAL
The Navigators had the luck to reach the Round of 16 after the most recent game with Iran, where they were better at one point, but Ronaldo’s penalty miss, Iran’s late equalizer and a golden chance that could knock Portugal out of the World Cup somewhat remind us of Portugal’s EURO 2016 campaign. They didn’t impress there and they certainly didn’t impress here so far and it seems that Uruguay will represent a major stumbling block, and only the penalty shootout could save the Portuguese this time around, despite being a slight favorite to progress to the quarter-finals. Portugal’s chances to win the World Cup are now +2500, while the Navigators are +350 to reach the semi-finals.
Match Prediction
This game could go either way, and will probably not be decided in regular time, even though there are plenty of individuals who can make something out of nothing such as Ronaldo, Suarez, Cavani, and Quaresma. Still, I don’t think the teams will open up and play attacking football, so a draw looks like a good option to bet on.
The Pick: Draw (+187)
