The Boston College Eagles and the Temple Owls will face each other in a Saturday noon matchup as they both look to build their momentum after winning their previous games. The Eagles, however, have lost their starting QB for the season.
Eagles win game, lose Jurkovec for the seasonSeason form
The Eagles got the win in the previous game, beating the UMass Minutemen 45-28 for their second successive win, but lost quarterback Phil Jurkovec to a potentially season-ending injury. The Eagles are 2-0 to open the new season.
Dennis Grosel, who has started just eight career games, will likely replace Jurkovec for the rest of the season. Jurkovec will have surgery on his hand, which will likely spell the end of his season. Grosel passed for 199 yards after coming on against UMass as a replacement.
“I think the football gods are rewarding us. I think that just goes to show how close of a unit we are. I think that we’re very connected. There’s no hating in the room,” Woodbey said. “Everybody wants everybody to get better and I think that’s something that’s rare across the nation.”
Our backup QB shares the program's single-game passing record with a Heisman Trophy winner. Who else can say that?@BCDanRubin on Dennis Grosel as he takes over under center for a third straight season.
