Sunday Night Baseball and the National League West with square off with the National League Central as the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the St Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St Louis, Missouri. This is the final game of a three-game series. Pitching Probables: taking the hill for the Dodgers will be Ross Stripling (8-3, 2.61 ERA) and the Cards will counter with Adam Wainwright (1-3, 4.70 ERA).

Dodgers Take Over 2nd Wildcard Slot

The Los Angeles Dodgers are putting it together at the right time. They come in off a strong 17-4 win over the Cards in game three of this series and that puts them in the 2nd wildcard slot in the National League. They have now won their last four games in a row, after going just 3-5 in their previous seven games. They really crushed the cards on Saturday and leading their attack in the game was Yasiel Puig, who had three hits and drove in seven runs. All three hits were homers and he now has 21 on the year. Cody Bellinger also had a huge game as he had three hits and drove in six runs. One hit was his 23rd homer of the year. Rich Hill allowed four Ers on two hits and four hits while striking out eight in 5.0 innings to pick up the win. He is now 9-5 with a 4.02 ERA on the year. The Dodgers have averaged 5.22 rpg and have allowed 3.86 rpg on the road so far.   
Taking the hill for the Dodgers will be Ross Stripling and he has gone 8-3 with a 2.61 ERa in 30 games (18 starts) on the year, including 40-3 with a 2.86 ERA in 18 games (11 starts) on the road. He is 8-3 with a 2.94 ERA in his 18 starts. In his career, he has gone 6-12 with a 3.68 ERA in 56 games (18 starts) on the road and 2-4 with a 4.18 ERa in 18 games (three starts) during Sept/ Oct. Stripling is 1-1 with  a 4.09 ERA in four games (one start) in his career, against the Cards.

Cards Get Ripped In Game Three

The St Louis Cardinals are starting to flounder some as they have lost their last four games and have fallen out of the 2nd wildcard slot in the National League. Earlier this year, they won all three games against the Dodgers on the road, but after losing 17-4 yesterday, they have now lost the first three games of this series. They will be looking to avoid getting swept tonight. John Gant got the start on Saturday and he allowed six ERs on six hits and four walks in 4.1 innings of work to fall to 7-6 with a 3.53 ERA on the year.  The pen didn’t fare better as they allowed 11 runs (seven earned) on nine hits and six walks over the final 4-2 innings of the game. Their offense came on a grand slam by Patrick Wisdom in the 4th inning. It was his 4th round-tripper of the year. The Cardinals have averaged 4.30 rpg and have allowed 4.11 rpg here at home for the year.
Toeing the slab for the Cardinals will be Adam Wainwright and he has gone 1-3 with a 4.70 ERA in five starts on the year, including 0-2 with a 5.74 ERa in three starts here at home. In his career, he has gone 78-43 with a 2.88 ERA in 175 games (143 starts here at Busch Stadium and 26-10 with a 3.40 ERA 61 games (45 starts) during Sept/ Oct. Wainwright is 5-5 with a 2.69 ERA in 15 games (12 starts) against the Dodgers in his career.
