St. Louis Blues vs Florida Panthers Prediction & Preview

The Florida Panthers face the St. Louis Blues with both teams off to great starts to the season. The Panthers have won 17 of their 24 games this season while the Blues have won 12 of their first 24 games to start the season. The Panthers are looking to build their first-place record in the Atlantic Divison while the Blues are looking to make up ground in the Central Division and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result. 

Panthers offense has been dominant this season

The Panthers are having a great season led by an offense that is scoring 3.83 goals per game. Aleksander Barkov and Anthony Duclair have combined for 18 goals and 16 assists while Jonathan Huberdeau and Sam Bennett have added 16 goals and 26 assists to the top two forward lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Sam Reinhart, Carter Verhaeghe, and Eetu Luostarinen have combined for 21 goals and 23 assists while defensemen Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour have added 10 goals and 23 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

 

The offense has led the way but the Panthers defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.71 goals per game. Aaron Ebklad and MacKenzie Weegar have combined for 4.2 defensive point shares and 77 blocked shots while Radko Gudas and Gustav Forsling have combined for 1.8 defensive point shares and 63 blocked shots to give the Panthers two great defensive pairings. In addition, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is having a great season in the net with a .920 save percentage and a 2.41 goals-against average on 452 shots.

 

Blues offense has been great

The Blues have looked great this season with an offense that is scoring 3.25 goals per game leading the way. Brandon Saad has 10 goals and three assists while Jordan Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich have combined for 18 goals and 23 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the forward unit has also found the back of the net this season. Ivan Barbashev, David Perron, and Vladimir Tarasenko have combined for 22 goals and 30 assists while defensemen Justin Faulk and Torey Krug have added seven goals and 13 assists from the point to open up the Blues offense.

 

The Blue have been led by their offense but the defense has also stepped up, allowing only 2.83 goals per game. Justin Faulk and Marco Scandella have combined for 2.6 defensive point shares and 65 blocked shots while Torey Krug, Colton Parayko, and Jake Walman have combined for 2.1 defensive point shares and 75 blocked shots to add depth to the unit. In addition, goaltender Ville Husso has stepped up in the net with a .929 save percentage and a 2.33 goals-against average on 196 shots.
