The second game of a three game Interleague series has the American League Texas Rangers visiting Oracle Park to face the San Francisco Giants from the National League. The probable pitcher for Texas is the newly acquired right hander Jordan Lyles, but as of late Friday night San Fransisco is still undecided on who will take the mound in this 6:10pm PT contest. Wilmer Flores hit a three-run homer and theSan Francisco Giantsbeat theTexas Rangers9-2 on Friday night.

To Panic Or Have Urgency? That is The Question

After a 7-4 victory over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, Rangers manager Chris Woodard addressed the media by stressing there is no panic with his club regarding the sluggish start. "There is urgency, but there is no panic." said the Texas skipper. He followed that by saying, "There was a calmness about us today...I felt like if we could just get one good at-bat, one big hit and kind of break things open, and that's exactly what happened."

The Rangers will send Jordan Lyles to the mound on Saturday and he was 7-1 with a 2.45 ERA in 11 starts for the Milwaukee Brewers at the end of of last season. However, this will be Lyles first start of the season as he was skipped over in order to give Lance Lynn an extra start. It's not exactly a vote of confidence for a guy they gave a $16 million contract to over the offseason.

The story for the Texas Rangers this year will not be the pitching, it will be the offense which already ranks amongst the lowest in the majors. Unfortunately, Oracle Park is not a hitter friendly park. They have moved the bullpens in attempt to generate more offense and have expanded the dimensions in the power alleys (including a 421-foot Triples Alley in right-center field), but the Oracle Park outfield always has been known as the place where homers die.

Giants Need To Improve Play Early In Games

The San Francisco Giants fell to the San Diego Padres 12-7 in extra innings Thursday night after a top-of-the-10th collapse that included a Tyler Rogers explosion and a head scratching Gabe Kapler slip-up.

Rogers, a reliever, was charged with five earned runs and failed to record an out in extra innings against the Padres and visibly frustrated with his performance. With Rogers crumbling, Kapler left the dugout to replace him, but forgot the pitching coach just completed his own visit to the mound. Under MLB rules, if a pitcher receives two mound visits in the same inning during a given at-bat, the pitcher must face the batter until the batter is retired or reaches base.

As of Friday night The Giants have not determined who will start Saturday against the Rangers. Through seven games pitching for the Giants their staff had compiled a 3-4 record with a 5.66 ERA and have already given up 9 jacks. The Giants have yet to have a starter make it through five innings after eight games. It's the longest streak to start a season in Major League Baseball history, according to STATS.
