PITTSBURGH vs MIAMI Prediction & Preview

Although Miami is playing short-handed, the Hurricanes improved to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the ACC following a 31-30 victory over the #18 ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke passed for 325 yards and four touchdowns while Charleston Rambo caught nine passes for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Miami will play without Bubba Bolden, Donald Chaney Jr, Jake Garcia, Cam’ron Harris, D’Eriq King and Jalen Rivers.

Pittsburgh improved to 6-1 overall and leads the Coastal Division of the ACC at 3-0. The Panthers have won four straight after defeating the Clemson Tigers 27-17 last Saturday. Quarterback Kenny Pickett passed for 302 yards and a pair of touchdowns and the Panthers defense held Clemson to 315 yards of total offense and forced two Tigers’ turnovers. Pittsburgh will play without Grant Carrigan and four other players are listed as questionable.


Miami’s Defense Needs Help

The Miami Hurricanes are 97th in the nation in points allowed with an average of 30.0 per game. Miami is allowing an average of 145.1 yards rushing and 245.0 yards passing for a total of 390.1 yards per game. Opponents are averaging 4.1 yards per carry and 5.4 yards per play against the Hurricanes defense. The leading tackler for Miami, Bubba Bolden, is out injured therefore Waynmon Steed is the current leading tackler with 33. Three players each have 2.5 quarterback sacks and four players each have one interception for the Hurricanes.


Miami is scoring an average of 32.1 points per game, which is 74th in the nation while averaging 151.0 yards rushing and 282.3 yards passing per game. Tyler Van Dyke has completed 58.8% of his passes for 1062 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions. Miami's leading rusher Cam’Ron Harris (409 yards) is out injured, and the second leading rusher is Jaylan Knighton with 219 yards and two touchdowns. The leading receiver is Charleston Rambo with 44 receptions for 549 yards and four TDs.


Pittsburgh's defense is tough to score against

Pittsburgh is allowing an average of 19.6 points per game which is 27th in the nation, however during Pittsburgh's current four-game winning streak the Panthers are allowing an average of only 13.0 points per game. The Panthers are allowing an average of 109.3 yards rushing and 209.4 yards passing for a total of 318.7 yards per game. Opponents are averaging 3.4 yards per carry and 5.0 yards per play against Pittsburgh’s defense. The leading tackler for Pittsburgh is linebacker Brandon Hill with 38, while the leader in quarterback sacks is lineman Habakkuk Baldonado with 5.5. Cornerback Damarri Mathis is the leader in interceptions with 2.
