The 11th-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions will be trying to avoid an upset when they host the Ball State Cardinals on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions are coming off a 16-10 win over 12th-ranked Wisconsin. The Cardinals are coming off a 31-21 win over Western Illinois.

Cardinals Going For Second Consecutive Win

The Cardinals played well in their first game of the season and picked up a comfortable win over Western Illinois. They will try to pull off an upset when they face their first ranked opponent of the season and will need to play better than they did in their last game, especially on the defensive end.

Ball State scored 31 points in their last game. They threw for 188 yards and rushed for 216 yards in the win.

Drew Plitt completed 60.7 percent of his passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns. Will Jones led the team with 93 rushing yards and one touchdown, while Justin Hall led the team with eight receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns.

Penn State also played well defensively, giving up 21 points. They will need to do a better job if they want to pull off the upset.

Nittany Lions Need To Get Ground Game Going

The Nittany Lions played well enough to pick up the win in their season opener, but they barely got away with the win due to their offensive struggles. With the team facing another ranked team in their next game, they will need to work out the kinks on offense and do a better job establishing the run.

Penn State didn’t look good offensively in their first game, scoring 16 runs in the win. They threw for 247 yards and rushed for 50 yards in the win.

Sean Clifford completed 54.5 percent of his passes for 247 yards and one touchdown. Noah Cain led the team with 48 rushing yards and one touchdown, while Jahan Dotson had five receptions for 102 yards and one touchdown.

Penn State looked good defensively, giving up 10 points in the win. They didn’t play well against the run and will need to do a better job if they want to pick up the win.
