Arizona Diamondbacks vs. New York Mets
Where and when:  CitiField, New York City, Tuesday, 7:10 pm EST
The Arizona Diamondbacks will resume their four-game set versus the New York Mets on Tuesday night at CitiField as game-two will get underway at 7:10 pm EST.  Arizona won a three-game set at Chase Park in early June as they outscored the Mets 13-6 in the final two games of the series. This, after the Mets got a 5-4 victory in the opener.
The Mets enter this game losers of two straight games after falling at home to the Philadelphia Phillies in their most recent series.  In all, the team allowed a total of fifteen runs to the Phillies in the final two games of the set after picking up a win in the opener.  New York is now in fourth place within a competitive NL East division with the Phillies, Washington Nationals, along with the Atlanta Braves holding onto the top three spots.
New York also picked up a victory in the opener of a three-game set versus the Diamondbacks in late-May before falling in games-two and three to lose the series.  Important to note that the Mets have dropped eight of their last twelve games at CitiField.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are certainly trending upwards at this time in winning eight of their last ten games while also threatening to take a wild card spot after a dismal first half of the season.  And despite falling to the Cincinnati Reds in the finale of a three-game set on September 8th, they dominated in games-one and two to take a commanding 2-0 lead to take their fourth straight series victory.  Furthermore, they have dominated within the NL West division as of late in winning twelve of their last fourteen contests, overall.
Arizona has won fourteen of their last nineteen games, including picking up victories in five of their last six road games.  Versus the NL East, the Diamondbacks were winners in eleven of their last nineteen.

Wheeler Looking to Build from Last Outing

Zack Wheeler (10-7) will come to the hill on Tuesday night seeking his second straight win after allowing one run in five frames on the road in an 8-4 victory over the Washington Nationals on September 4th.  Before this win, Wheeler suffered three straight no-decisions in games that he certainly pitched well enough to pick up a win.  However, the right-hander was taken advantage of by the Atlanta Braves in his last home start as they tagged him for five runs along with two home runs in a 9-5 loss. In all, New York happens to be winners of six of their last eight games with Wheeler on the mound.
The right-hander allowed four earned runs and two homers to the Diamondbacks earlier in the season while pitching over six innings and recording nine strikeouts in a 5-4 win at Chase Park.

Gallen solid since trade to Arizona

Since his arrival from the Miami Marlins, Zac Gallen (3-4) has been a valuable asset to the Arizona rotation. And despite winning just two of his first six starts with the team, the Diamondbacks happen to be winners of five of six with Gallen on the mound.  Furthermore, the rookie has surrendered just eight earned runs, total, in his starts for Arizona while pounding the strike zone for thirty-nine K’s during this time.
Gallen has had prior experience facing the Mets as he pitched five innings while allowing two earned runs along with a home run in a 4-2 loss while suiting up for the Marlins on July 13th.  Gallen seeks his first road win as a Diamondback, as his last outing away from Chase resulted in him giving up two home runs versus the Milwaukee Brewers in a 4-0 shutout defeat.
