The Montreal Canadiens will take on the Toronto Maple Leafs for game seven of the playoff series. The Canadiens finished the season with a record of 24-21-11. The Leafs finished the season with a record of 35-14-7. The series is tied 3-3.

Canadiens Even Series

The Canadiens won game six 3-2 in overtime to push the series to game seven. Tyler Toffoli and Corey Perry each scored a goal. Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored the overtime winner. Carey Price was fantastic between the pipes, stopping 41 out of 43 shots faced.

Offense was mediocre this season for Montreal. They have not shown up at all on offense this series. The Canadiens scored two goals in game one, one goal in game two and three, were shutout in game four, and scored three goals in game six. They did show up in game five, scoring four goals to extend the series. The Habs ended the season ranking 17th in goals per game and seventh in shots per game. Jeff Petry was tied for third among defensemen in the league with 12 goals this season. Tyler Toffoli was seventh in goals in the NHL this year. Jesperi Kotkaniemi has scored a goal in three of the six games this series.

Defense and goaltending struggled at the end of the season but have been very good in this playoff series. Carey Price has started all six games of the series. He gave up one goal in game one, four goals in game two, two goals in game three, three goals in game four and five, and two goals in game six. The Habs ended the season ranking 18th in goals against per game and sixth in shots against per game. Carey Price had a record of 12-7-5 with a 2.64 GAA and a .901 SV% this season.

Leafs Fail to End Series

The Leafs lost game six 3-2 in overtime and now the series will go on to seven games. Jason Spezza and T.J. Brodie each scored a goal. Jack Campbell stopped 28 out of 31 shots faced.

Offense was excellent for the Leafs this season but they have been somewhat inconsistent in this series. They scored just one goal in game one, five goals in game two, two goals in game three, four goals in game four, three goals in game five, and two goals in game six. The Leafs finished the season ranking sixth in goals per game and shots per game. Mitchell Marner finished the season fourth in points and Auston Matthews was the leading goal scorer in the league. The line combination of Matthews and Marner is one of the best and very difficult to stop.

Defense and goaltending have been a strong point as well for the Leafs this season and have been terrific in this series. Jack Campbell has started all six games. He allowed two goals in game one, one goal in game two and three, shutout Montreal in game four, four goals in game five, and three goals in game six. He struggled in game five giving up four goals on 30 shots faced. The Leafs ended the season ranking seventh in goals against per game and fifth in shots against per game. Jack Campbell had a record of 17-3-2 with a 2.15 GAA and a .921 SV% this season. He ranked sixth in GAA and eighth in SV%.
