NBA action on Tuesday night positions the Memphis Grizzlies (24-23) headed to South Beach for a showdown against the Miami Heat (26-24). Memphis has enjoyed two wins in their last two games and look to make it three in a row against the Heat. Last time out for the Grizzlies they thumped Philadelphia 116-100 in the city of brotherly love.

Miami has had the luxury of being off both Sunday and Monday so the Heat will be rested when they tip off at home from AmericanAirlines Arena at 8:00pm ET. Last time out for the Miami Heat they pounded Cleveland on the road 115-101 to win their fourth consecutive game. The last time Memphis played Miami, the Grizzlies snapped Miami's five-game winning streak as Ja Morant sank a game-winning layup with 1.2 seconds left back on March 17 in Memphis.

Oddsmakers have the Heat favored by (-5) points and the game total for the contest is sitting right around 217.5 points. When these teams met on St. Patty's Day the game was a low scoring affair with a final score of 89-85 in favor of Memphis. Miami was favored by one point in that matchup and the total was set at 220 points. The contest ended with the underdog winning outright and the game total hitting on the under.

Memphis Aims For Third Straight Win

The Memphis Grizzlies are (24-23) and now eighth in the Western Conference standings after beating Philadelphia 116-100 on Sunday. San Antonio had been holding on to the last playoff spot in the west for the last week, but Memphis has looked impressive in their last few games only losing to Utah since March 20.

The latest two wins over Minnesota and Philadelphia have put the Grizzlies one game above .500. Memphis has four more games to play this week including tonight's matchup, but then the Grizzlies play the Hawks tomorrow in Atlanta, and then play the Knicks and Pacers on Friday and Sunday. Memphis is a decently balanced team as they score 111.9 points per game which is 17th in the league, but over the last three games have scored 114.3 points per game. The Grizzlies allow opponents to score 110.9 points per game which does rank 7th in the league.

Ja Morant leads the Grizzlies with 19 points per game to go with his 31.5 minutes he averages a night. Jonas Valanciunas has been steady all year and averages 16.2 points per game to go with his 12.5 boards per game which is third best in the league. Dillon Brooks is also contributing 16.1 points per game for the Grizzlies.

Miami Aims For 5th Straight Win

The Miami Heat come into Tuesday's night matchup against the Grizzlies as five point home court favorites and winners of four consecutive games. The Heat have gone 14-12 in games played in Miami. The Heat have had a variety of winning and losing streaks this season and are 4-6 over their last ten games averaging 104.9 points scored per game while surrendering 106.5 points per game.

The current win streak entails victories over Cleveland, Golden State, Indianapolis, and New York. Prior to the four game winning streak the Heat were in the midst of a six game losing streak. Ironically the streak started with the very team they face tonight in the Memphis Grizzlies. Miami is currently tied with Atlanta for the top spot in the Southeast division of the East Conference, and the Heat are currently in 5th place in the East 8.5 games behind the first place Nets.

In 35 games played this year Jimmy Butler leads the Heat averaging 21.2 points per game to go with his 7.5 rebounds, and 7.3 assists. Bam Adebayo is the center down low who is averaging 19.3 points per game, and 9.6 rebounds per game. And don't look now but Tyler Herro is gradually improving his game each week. Herro is averaging 15.5 points per game to go with 5.2 rebounds per game. Since joining the Heat Victor Oladipo has slowly been trying to fit into the Miami offense but has struggled connecting on less than 30% of his shot attempts since joining the team.
