It’s a matchup of Eastern Conference teams looking to build some momentum down in South Beach. The Detroit Pistons are on the road as they make the trip down to face the Miami Heat Wednesday night. Detroit was pasted 103-75 on the road by Brooklyn in their last game Monday night. Miami was drubbed 125-104 at home by Toronto in their last contest Sunday afternoon. The Heat owns a 58-54 advantage in the all-time regular-season series but the Pistons have taken two of the three previous meetings this season. That includes a 119-96 road win in the last matchup on February 23.

Detroit Pistons Look to Rebound After Blowout Loss

Detroit had their five-game win streak snapped as they were pasted by Brooklyn on the road in the second game of a back to back. The Pistons enter this one seventh in the Eastern Conference, four games clear of ninth-place Orlando to remain in the playoff picture. Detroit trailed by eight after the opening quarter before getting outscored 34-16 in the second to trail by 26 at the half. The Pistons never got closer than 18 in the second half as they were outplayed. Detroit shot a measly 27.8 percent from the field, including eight of 34 from three-point range, and was edged 53-49 on the glass. Andre Drummond led the Pistons with 13 points and 20 rebounds in the loss.
 
The Pistons are mediocre so far offensively, ranking 23rd in scoring offense with 107.7 points per game. Detroit is 15thin rebounding with 45.3 boards per game and are below average sharing the ball, ranking 26th in assists with 22.6 per night. Miami Heat Trying to Climb In Playoff Picture

Miami was trounced at home by Toronto Sunday afternoon in their last game so they are looking to regroup. The Heat enters this one holding the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, one game ahead of ninth-place Orlando. Miami trailed by five after the opening quarter and by 14 at the half: they didn’t gt closer than nine the rest of the way. The Heat shot 45.7 percent from the field, including eight of 27 from three-point range, and lost the rebounding battle 44-36 in the contest. Bam Adebayo led Miami with 19 points, six rebounds and five assists in the loss.
 
The Heat has been mediocre offensively so far this season, ranking 25th in the league with 106 points per game. Miami has been above average on the glass as they are 9th with 46.1 boards per game. The Heat is 17th in assists with 24.1 dimes per contest. Miami comes in 3rd in scoring defense as they allow 106.5 points per game. Miami is 20th in field goal percentage as they shoot 45.3 percent as a team. The Heat stands 13th with 11.5 three pointers a night and tied for 10th in three-point shooting at 35.5 percent. Miami has been average in the last 10 games, going 5-5: they are 19thin scoring offense in the league (111.5 points per game) in that span. Josh Richardson has maintained his consistent play as he is second on the team with 15.3 points plus 4.7 assists per game during that stretch while shooting 43.4 percent from the field.
