The Indiana Hoosiers will travel to Maryland Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on the Maryland Terrapins in a Big Ten Conference matchup. The Hoosiers are 2-5 (0-4) this season and are coming off a 54-7 home loss to the fifth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Junior quarterback Jack Tuttle finished going 4-of-7 for 41 yards with a touchdown. The Terrapins are 4-3 (1-3) so far this year and are coming off a 34-16 road loss against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Junior quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa finished going 17-of-27 for 189 yards with a touchdown.

The Indiana Hoosiers and Maryland Terrapins are Big Ten Conference foes and compete annually as the Hoosiers picked up a 27-11 home win last year. Let’s take a closer look into the matchup to determine where we should be leaning.

Dealing with Injuries

The Indiana Hoosiers have been dealing with injuries to both their starting and backup quarterbacks but starting quarterback junior quarterback Michael Penix Jr could play here. So far this season, he has a 46.1 QBR while completing 53.7 percent of passes for 939 yards for four touchdowns and seven interceptions. In his last game against the Penn State Nittany Lions, Penix went 10-of-22 for 118 yards and an interception. If he is able to play here, it will do wonders for the Hoosiers' offense.

The Indiana Hoosiers have been struggling defensively as they are allowing 30.7 points per game. In their previous game against the Ohio State Buckeyes, they gave up 54 points on 539 total yards of offense (352 passing, 187 rushing). They need to improve as the Buckeyes converted on 6-of-9 third-down attempts. The Hoosiers have been struggling at stopping the running game as they allowed 5.8 rushing yards per run. If they can get some stops, it will be a good sign for them.

Just Like His Brother

The Maryland Terrapins have been doing well offensively this season with junior quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa under center. So far this season, he has a 67.7 QBR while completing 71.1 percent of his passes for 1,965 yards with 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions. In his last game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Tagovailoa finished going 17-of-27 for 189 yards and a touchdown. If he can find some weapons, he will have a big game.

The Maryland Terrapins have been struggling a bit defensively this year as they are giving up 29.7 points per game. In their previous game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, they allowed 34 points on 451 total yards of offense (125 passing, 326 rushing). Minnesota went 7-of-12 on third down attempts so they need to improve there. The Terrapins gave up 5.8 rushing yards per attempt last week. If they can improve a bit, they will be in a better spot to win here.
