Philling Up the Scoreboard

The Philadelphia Phillies have been consistent with what you’d expect about their offense as they are second in MLB with a .750 OPS and have a .431 slugging percentage, which leads all of baseball. A big reason for their offensive success has been from right fielder Bryce Harper as he has a .963 OPS with eight home runs and 24 RBI this season. He has been dominating in the month of May with a .364/.408/.841 slash-line to help the Phillies produce a lot of offense. The Phillies have put together a stellar series thus far vs. LA and are in position to pull off a 4-game sweep on Sunday. The Phillies offense has scored 29 runs through three games.

Despite his record, Aaron Nola has done well to begin his 2022 season according to his Baseball Savant numbers as he is in the 86th percentile in walk percentage, 85th percentile in xwOBA, 85th percentile in xERA, and 77th percentile in chase rate. Nola throws five different pitches (fastball, curveball, sinker, changeup, cutter) and his heater has been elite this year as hitters have a .125 batting average against it with just one extra-base hit. He needs to figure out how to put zeroes on the board if the Phillies want to win here.

Dodgers Need to Wake Up

The Los Angeles Dodgers have an incredible offensive team this season as they are currently fifth in the sport with a .730 team OPS so far. This lineup has been doing incredibly well at the plate and getting on base at a .329 clip, which is tied for second in baseball. First baseman Freddie Freeman has been dominating like it is a video game as he has an .890 OPS with three homers, 13 RBI, and a pair of stolen bases. Their pitching has failed them in this series thus far as they've been outscored 29-20 in 3 straight losses to the Phils.

Michael Grove is expected to make his MLB debut and this is a tough lineup to go up against. They should have a quick hook with him as they have a solid bullpen and Philadelphia is a tough lineup to navigate for an experienced pitcher.
