Jonathan Heasley is considered to be the eighth-ranked prospect in the Kansas City organization and has not done too well according to his Baseball Savant page as he is in the 10th percentile in walk percentage. Hitters are driving the ball off of him as they have a .505 xSLG this season. Heasley has a five-pitch arsenal and relies on the heater as it is thrown 47.5 percent of the time. Hitters are making solid contact against it though as hitters have a .274 batting average with five homers against it so far. He has not pitched against the Angels in his career so far so it will be an interesting test for him.
Angels in the OutfieldThe Los Angeles Angels have been an average offensive team this year as they are 15th in the sport with a .705 team OPS while averaging 4.19 runs per game thus far. Center fielder Mike Trout has been one of the best hitters this year as he has a 1.048 OPS with 21 home runs and 43 RBI. June thus far has been his worst offensive month so far as he has a .255/.349/.727 slash line with eight homers and 15 RBI in just 16 games up to this point. The Angels were held to 2 runs on Monday night and starter Noah Syndergaard gave up 8 hits and five runs, including two home runs, in a 6-2 loss.
Reid Detmers has been struggling this season according to his Baseball Savant page as he is in the 16th percentile in whiff percentage. He needs to work on avoiding barrels as Detmers is allowing a nine barrel percentage thus far. He throws five different pitches and has a great mix as he throws four of them 13.4 percent of the time. Hitters are hitting his heater for power as it has a .195 batting average but allowed five homers off of it. This will be his first career appearance against the Royals so this will be an interesting matchup for him.
