Raiders Romp Broncos in Final Home Game
The Oakland Raiders will conclude their regular season on the road where they stand at 1-6 on the season. They enter this one on a winning note after thumping the Broncos 27-14 on Monday night. Derek Carr was accurate, completing 19 of 26 passes for 167 yards. The 27-year old QB is having a decent season, and he has not tossed an interception in 10 consecutive games. Carr has tallied 3864 passing yards with a 19:8 TD to INT ratio on the season.
Raiders’ rushing leader Doug Martin came through with his best performance of the season last week, notching 107 rushing yards. The seven-year veteran RB has only rushed for more than 80 yards once this season, and he has 623 rushing yards on the year. Jordy Nelson is playing well down the final stretch, collecting 163 receiving yards in his last two games, and he has accrued 661 receiving yards on the season.
The Raiders offense wasn’t able to find a groove this season. They have only scored more than 28 points twice this season. The Oakland defense has been their biggest issue this season. They have consistently struggled to stop the run, and their rush defense stands down at 30th in the NFL. Oakland is scoring an average of 19.1 points on the season, ranking them down at 29th in the NFL. The Raiders are allowing an average of 28.8 points, pegging them 31st overall.
Chiefs Can Clinch Division with Win
The Kansas City Chiefs failed to lock up first place in the AFC West in a 38-31 road loss to Seattle last week to extend their skid to two games. The Chiefs can clinch the division title with a win in this one. Patrick Mahomes played well in Sunday’s loss in Seattle, recording 273 passing yards with three TD’s. The 23-year old QB is having a dominating season, accumulating 4816 passing yards with a dazzling 48:11 TD to INT ratio.
Damien Williams is coming off his best game of the season. The 26-year old RB rushed for 103 yards against the Seahawks, and he will see a majority of the carries again in this one if Spencer Ware does not suit up. Ware is questionable with a hamstring injury. Chiefs receiving leader Tyreek Hill has brought in a combined 120 receiving yards in his last two games, and he has racked up 1378 receiving yards on the year.
The Chiefs offense has cooled off for their standards, scoring 28 or fewer points in two out of their last three games. The Kansas City defense conceded 464 total yards against Seattle last week, and they are now allowing an average of 413 total yards per game. They continue to struggle against both the pass and run. The Chiefs hold a 6-1 home record, and they are averaging an NFL best 35.3 points on the season. Kansas City is conceding an average of 27.9 points, pegging them 29th overall.
