The tilt between France and Argentina will be played at the Kazan Arena in Kazan on June 30th. The Blues are the slight favorites here and although we didn’t seem much from them in the group stage, France didn’t have problems to get to the Round of 16, unlike Argentina who was five minutes away from elimination.
France vs. Argentina
Three-Way: 1: France +140; X: +200 Draw; 2: Argentina +260
Spread 0: France -154; Argentina +147
Total 2.5 goals: Over +150; Under -200
The Blues finished in the first place in the Group C ahead of Denmark, but it seemed that they didn’t use 100% in three matches of the group stage, even though they won the opening two. France beat Australia 2-1 and Peru 1-0, while they displayed one of the most boring games at the World Cup in a 0-0 draw with Denmark when they rested the key players and looked uninterested. We didn’t see much from them and if it turns out that they kept the strength and saved energy for the knockout stage by not showing us all they can do in the opening three matches, Argentina will be in a lot of trouble. France’s chances to win the World Cup are now +800, while the Blues are +162 to reach the semi-finals.
The Albiceleste are far from impressive at the World Cup thus far and they barely managed to get to the Round of 16 but doesn’t mean they will not improve in the knockout stage. Argentina recorded just one victory at the tournament and it was the crucial one over Nigeria, but their disastrous display against Croatia is still fresh in the fans’ memory, and if they play now like they played in the group stage, Leo Messi and co. can already start packing their bags home. Argentina’s chances to win the World Cup are now +1400, while the Albiceleste is +275 to reach the semi-finals.
Although the odds on France to win jumped from +100 to +140, I think they have a better team that is capable of beating Argentina who is relying on Messi too much, so this is a no-brainer after all that we saw in the group stage. The Albiceleste didn’t deserve to be here and I believe this will be their last game at the World Cup.
