DC Defenders vs St. Louis BattleHawks Prediction & Preview

The St. Louis BattleHawks bounced back from the first defeat of the season with two home victories over the New York Guardians and Seattle Dragons. They are favorites to beat the DC Defenders, who are coming home from a two-game road trip and a pair of disappointing losses.

St. Louis scored 17 points and allowed just three in the opening half against the Seattle Dragons at home. Although the visitors were a better rival in the second half, the BattleHawks managed to secure a 23-17 victory. The BattleHawks totaled 392 yards opposite Seattle’s 253 and had even 12 first downs more than the visitors (23-11).

Quarterback Jordan Ta’amu completed 20 of 27 passes for 264 yards and one touchdown. He connected with nine different receivers, but De ‘Mornay Pierson-El proved to be Ta’amu’s favorite in this game. Pierson-El caught five passes on five targets for game-high 71 yards and one TD. Running back Donnel Pumphrey led the Defenders in receiving with three receptions for 32 yards, while Eli Rogers was targeted nine times but caught only four passes for 25 yards. Pumphrey also added 34 yards on the ground on seven carries. Matt Elam and Jonathan Celestin led the Defenders with 12 tackles apiece.
