The Lighting are streaking as they have won six in a row and they have scored at least five goals in two of their last three games. They rank 3rd in the NHL in goals per game but only scored two goals in a 3-2 loss to the Hurricanes at home earlier this season. Tampa Bay is tied with Carolina for the 6th most points in the Eastern Conference and they are 11-6-2 on the road on the season.
The Hurricanes had won two in a row before suffering a loss in their last game. They have been up and down for the last couple of weeks and like Tampa Bay, they are also led by their offense, which ranks 8th in the league in goals per game.

The Lightning have lost 13 of their last 16 games facing teams from the Metropolitan Division.
#1 G Andrei Vasilevskiy (18-9-2 2.83 GAA) is slated to get the start against the Hurricanes and the Lightning have won his last four starts. He only gave up one goal in his last start while he gave up four in each of his previous two starts. Nikita Kucherov leads Tampa Bay in points, and he has a goal and two assists in his last three games. Alex Killorn and Brayden Point are tied for the team lead with 16 goals apiece and Killorn has been hot as of late scoring a goal in the win over the Senators and he has five goals and two assists in his last five games. Point also scored in the last game and has two goals and two assists in his last four games.
 

Can’t Complete Comeback

In their last game, the Hurricanes were on the road and lost to the Washington Capitals 4-3 where they could not complete the comeback after being down 4-1 in the 3rd period. They outshot the Caps 41-29 in the loss, Ryan DzingelJordan Staal, and Teuvo Teravainen all scored in the losing effort, and Petr Mrazek (16-9-2 2.72 GAA) gave up four goals on 29 shots.
 
Mrazek is scheduled to get the start against the Lightning and he has given up four goals in four of his last five starts. Teravainen leads the Canes in both points and assists and he has a goal and four assists in his last five games. Sebastian Aho leads the team with 23 goals, and he has two goals and an assist in his last four games. He and Andrei Svechnikov, who had two assists in the loss to the Capitals, have combined for 40 goals this season. The Hurricanes have won five of their last seven games facing a team with a winning record.
