Fresh off a big win over Utah, the Oregon State Beavers look to hold on to their lead in the Pac-12 North division when they face the California Golden Bears. The Beavers are 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Pac-12 while the Golden Bears are 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference. Oregon State has won the last two versus Cal, including a 31-27 win last year as a 1.5 point favorite. This year the game is at Cal, and Oregon State is only a 2 point favorite, with the over-under set at 55.5. Can the Golden Bears pull off the upset?

Oregon State upsets Utah

The Oregon State Beavers are tied atop the Pac-12 North division with their state rival, Oregon, with a record of 3-1. After a loss to Washington State two weeks ago, the Beavers regrouped with a bye week and came out last Saturday and posted their best win of the season. The Beavers knocked off Utah 42-34, which had been unbeaten in the Pac-12. Utah had been a three-point favorite. This was a shootout as Oregon State gained 468 yards to 455 yards for Utah.

Oregon State running back BJ Baylor put the game away with an 8-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Baylor rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown while Trevon Bradford and Anthony Gould also scored rushing touchdowns. Bradford also had 6 catches for 74 yards and a receiving touchdown. Overall, the Beavers rolled up 260 yards rushing and had 208 yards passing. They gave up 267 yards in the air to Utah. Offensive lineman Jake Levengood and defensive lineman Isaac Hodgins are both questionable.

Cal scores big win

The California Golden Bears are bringing up the rear in the Pac-12 North with a record of 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The wins have been few and far between, but the Bears have been very competitive against most of their opponents. They only lost 24-17 at Oregon and 31-24 in overtime at Washington. Last week, they had their best win of the season, beating Colorado 26-3 as an 8 point favorite.

Cal completely dominated Colorado, holding them to only 104 total yards while rolling up 438 yards themselves. Cal rushed for 213 yards and had 23 first downs to just 7 for Colorado. Quarterback Chase Garbers was pretty darn near perfect going 22 for 29 for 225 yards with 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He also rushed for 96 yards on 10 carries. Keleki Latu caught 3 passes for 36 yards and a touchdown while Gavin Reinwald also caught a touchdown pass. For Saturday's game, running back DeCarlos Brooks is questionable.
