National Hockey league action on Tuesday evening and a pair of teams from the Atlantic Division will square off as the Detroit Red Wings tangle with the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. The Sabres lead the season series 2-1.
Red Wings Shock the BruinsThe Boston Bruins have tyhe most points in the league and the Detroit Red Wings have the fewest. Easy win for the team from Beantown, Right? Not so fast my friends. The Red Wings won the game at home by a score of 3-1, despite being dogs of +278. The Red Wings have now won two of their last three games after suffering through a nine-game losing streak. their 32 points are 11 behind the Kings, who have the fewest in the West and 2nd fewest in the league with 43. It is safe to say that the Red Wings will not be making an appearance in the NHL's 2nd season this year. Detroit is currently last in the league in scoring at 2.04 gpg and last in goals allowed, giving up 3.72 gpg.

Scoring in the win over the Bruins was Brendan Perlini, which was his 1st goal of the year and Andreas Athanasiou, who scored twice and now has seven on the year. Snatching up the win was Jonathan Bernier, who stopped 39 of the 40 shots that he faced to improve to 12-16 with a 2/82 GAA on the year while out on the road he has gone 4-8 with a 2.94 GAA. In his career, he has gone 58-107 with a 2.76 GAA on the road and 20-26 with a 2.51 GAA during the month of February, plus 5-6 with a 2.54 GAA against the Sabres.
The Sabres Need To Find Their OffenseThe Buffalo Sabres are a team that has plenty of young talent but for some reason, they can't get that to shine on the ice. Buffalo has struggled this year overall and even more of late as they enter this game having six of their last eight The biggest issue facing the Sabres at the moment is getting their offense. They come in ranked 21st in the league in scoring at 2.82 gpg while putting up just 15 goals in their last eight games, after notching 13 of them in their previous three games. It is clear that the offense needs a bit of a jumpstart. In their last game, the Sabres lost at home to the Anaheim Bucks by a score of 3-2 in a game that they trail 3-0 just 12 minutes in.

Absorbing the loss was Jonas Johansson, which was his 2nd career start and the 3rd game overall that he has played. Johansson allowed three goals on 28 shot attempts to fall to 0-2 with a 2.78 GAA. We may see Carter Hutton (Questionable) in this one and he has gone 8-13 with a 3.24 GAA on the year, including 5-6 with a 2.79 GAA here at home. In his career, he has gone 46-36 with a 2.47 GAA in his home games and 15-14 with a 2.40 GAA during the month of November. plus 2-1 with a 1.82 GAA against the Red Wings.
