The Colorado Avalanche (28-16-6, 62 points) head to upstate New York Tuesday to play the Buffalo Sabres (23-22-7, 53 points). The Avalanche were defeated by the Philadelphia Flyers 6-3 in their last outing. The loss kept Colorado eight points behind first-place St.Louis in the Central Division and tied with Dallas in second place.
Buffalo defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 in their most recent game and snapped a three-game losing streak in the process. The Sabres are in 6th Place in the Atlantic division two points behind 4th place Montreal but far off the pace for playoff contention. Buffalo is 4-5 in the last nine games played at home.

Colorado Desperate for victories

The Avalanche had their three-game winning streak snapped by the Flyers but Colorado has won just three of its last eight and five of its last 13. Colorado remains in second place in the Central Division but Dallas is tied with the Avalanche and the Chicago Blackhawks are creeping closer as they're just six points back.
