While not the most appealing matchups, the MAC always offers plenty of value for bettors looking to think outside of the box and focus on not-so-popular games. In fact, bookmakers are often slower to adjust their lines as these games don’t draw nearly half as much attention as Top 25 actions. That’s why we should never overlook a game like this with the Akron Zips visiting the Bowling Green Falcons at Doyt L. Perry Stadium.
Neither of these teams has been exactly impressive through the first half of the season and it’ll be years before they become legit contenders, if ever. Then again. They have a strong rivalry and that’s always fun to watch. Right now, the Bowling Green Falcons are favored by 14 points, while the game total is set at just 46.5 points.
Zips can’t seem to win on the road
The Zips’ biggest issue has been stopping the run and that was in full display last season. Despite allowing just 60 passing yards, they were outscored by 17 points thanks to 204 yards and a touchdown by De’Monte Tuggle and 71 yards and 2 rushing touchdowns by quarterback Armani Rogers. Overall, they allowed Ohio to rush for 398 yards and 25 first downs.
Falcons need to be more disciplined
The Falcons had plenty of chances of beating Kent State last week but couldn’t execute down the stretch. They lost a game in which they punted just twice and controlled the time of possession with 32:15 minutes. Their offense was pretty one-dimensional, with just 55 rushing yards overall.
