New York Knicks vs. Atlanta Hawks
NBA: Wednesday, March 11, State Farm Arena, Atlanta, Georgia, 6:30 PM ET
The New York Knicks spent the last five games at home and won three of them, including the latest one over the 6-point underdogs Detroit Pistons. The Knicks improved to a 20-44 record and are in the 12th place in the Eastern Conference.
The Atlanta Hawks bounced back from a three-game losing run with a double-overtime home win over the 4-point underdogs Charlotte Hornets. The Hawks improved to a 20-46 record and are in the 14th place in the Eastern Conference.
These conference rivals met twice this season, and the series is currently tied at 1-1.

The Knicks shut down the Pistons late to secure a win

New York produced one of the best defensive displays of the season in a 96-84 home victory over the Detroit Pistons. The Knicks limited the visitors to just 36.3% from the field and kept them to miserable 13 points in the final 12 minutes. The hosts dominated the boards (51-35), and even though they made only six triples opposite Detroit’s 11, the Knicks deservedly booked a win. Julius Randle led the Knicks with a double-double of 22 points and game-high 12 rebounds, along with game-high three steals. Elfrid Payton added 16 points, game-high six assists, and five boards, Mitchell Robinson posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, along with game-high three blocks, while RJ Barrett scored 12 points. Dennis Smith Jr. (concussion) is questionable to face the Wizards on Tuesday. We will consider him questionable to take on the Hawks on Wednesday.
“I felt like I was getting hit like a running back,” Randle said. “We got the win nonetheless.”
This season, the Knicks have the 29th offense in the NBA that averages 105.2 points per game, and they are facing the Hawks’ 29th defense that allows 119.5 points per contest. The Knicks are the 7th in rebounds with 46.7 and 28th in assists with 21.8 per game.

The Hawks edged Charlotte in double OT

Atlanta shot very well in a 143-138 double-overtime victory over the Charlotte Hornets and finished the game with 55.2% from the floor. The Hawks also hit 21 triples on 43 attempts and dominated the boards (53-35). Amazingly, the Hornets committed just three turnovers opposite Atlanta’s 15 and still managed to lose the game. Trae Young led the Hawks with a double-double of 31 points and game-high 16 assists. John Collins posted a double-double of 28 points and game-high 11 rebounds, along with two blocks, Cam Reddish added 22 points and seven boards, while De’Andre Hunter recorded a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Clint Capela (heel) and Skal Labissiere (knee) are out indefinitely, while DeAndre Bembry (groin, abdominal pain) is questionable to face the Knicks.
“I just feel like experience is coming in a little extra for me,” Collins said. “It’s my third year.”
This season, the Hawks have the 16th offense in the NBA that averages 111.5 points per game, and they are facing the Knicks’ 19th defense that allows 111.8 points per contest. The Hawks are the 21st in rebounds with 43.1 and 17th in assists with 23.9 per game.
